Special chemical materials refer to the small-volume production of a wide range of different items of chemical materials with high added value. Its contents include electronic and communications photoelectric materials, special synthetic resins, engineering plastics, polymer composites, dyes and pigments, medicine and biomedical materials.
Currently, there are seven professors in this Department who are engaged in research in related fields. The research projects are as follows:
1. Electronic photoelectric materials including low dielectric constant materials, printed circuit board photoresists, semiconductor and optical waveguide photoresists, and various optical coatings such as anti-reflective coatings.
2. Special synthetic resin as high heat-resistant resin, photosensitive resin, and conductive resin.
3. Biomaterials as artificial bone cement composites, biocompatible macromolecules and biodegradable macromolecules. Among them, biodegradable macromolecules can be applied to drug release control, surgical sutures, and tissue engineering materials, and in this regard, they will work closely with the Life Science Research Institute. In addition, biodegradable macromolecules can also be applied to biodegradable plastics, which responses to the increasing demands for environmental quality and awareness of environmental protection in today's society,; the corporate community must establish a sustainable business philosophy.
The study of special chemical materials in our Department improves the industry trends and technology. We have also actively studied the basic physical properties of materials and the nature of heterogeneous interfaces. It is gradually established at the research level of material morphology to reach the limit of the near molecular level. Under this limit state, the physical and chemical properties of various materials, such as reactivity, electromagnetic properties, and mechanical properties of various composite or hybrid materials, due to the extreme special conditions of the phase interface, will be the obvious difference after comparing with the general overall properties.
