Regulations on Course Overload
- Up to 6 additional credits may be taken per semester.
- Students approved for minor programs or taking undergraduate courses may apply for overload.
- Summer off-campus internship courses may allow up to 3 additional credits.
Regulations on Interdepartmental Course Selection
- Graduate students taking courses from other departments or programs must obtain consent from their department chair, the target department chair, and the course instructor.
- Maximum of 2 such courses per semester.
- Up to 12 credits from Ph.D. programs in other departments may count toward graduation.
- Courses from master’s or executive master’s programs are not counted toward graduation, but up to 9 credits from the department’s own master’s program may be accepted.
Degree Examination
- Applicants must complete the “Ph.D. Candidacy Qualification Exam” prior to application.
- The qualification exam and degree examination may be conducted in the same semester.
